Nehemiah 2:11
Matthew 12:35
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him,
and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
Nehemiah 2:11
Came to Jerusalem, and was there three days
1) It gave Him time to look around
- State of Affairs of the people
- To move ahead without premeditation would have been madness
- What are the barriers
- What is the spirit / attitude of the people
- Number of people, character and wealth
- Knowledge of human nature, human history and character

2) Time to look forward
- Practical
- Saw both difficulties and the way to meet and overcome them
- Made God his counselor
- Anticipated difficulties
- Was reasonable in his assessment
- Did not magnify or minimize
- Seahawks - acknowledge

3) Time to look within
- Self Examination
Motives tested – heart probed
- Looking at yourself alone will drive you to despair but it should also lead you to God

4) It gave Him time to look upward
- The burden of such responsibility moves us to the source = God
- Moved from personal reliance to godly reliance
- Moved from finite strength to infinite strength

The works inspected – Nehemiah 2:13-15
1) A work involving considerable danger
2) A work requiring personal sacrifice
3) A work requiring great moral courage
- The wreckage would overwhelm the most courageous
4) The work requires an accurate assessment
